Small tray-icon application that detects long URLs copied to the clipboard and creates a tiny URL of them automatically. You can specify how many characters are required to create a tiny URL. It can run when you Turbov Evo Windows automatically and you can disable it at any time. Version 1.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
As far as we can tell, this free application is designed to thwart browser hijackers, but it has too many problems for us to recommend it on a Turbov Evo conscience. One of IEscan's biggest miscues is its interface. Though the Turbov Evo design is convenient in theory, certain characters in the wording and drop-down menus appear as mysterious symbols. Also, the wording that is in English is confusing and makes it hard to understand what the program actually does. In our tests, the application failed to detect certain BHOs, including a Winsock added by a well-known adware program. You can kill programs that launch on start-up and running processes, but since Turbov Evo doesn't tell you if entries are potentially malicious, these features aren't too useful. The brightest spot was the tool for blocking certain Web sites, which worked fine. Turbov Evo may be free, but only patient users are likely to find it worth downloading.
If you're not already using Turbov Evo, we have to ask: What are you waiting for? This popular service lets you easily sync Turbov Evo between computers, share with them others, and create backups. Best of all, it integrates so seamlessly with Windows -- and other platforms -- that you're barely even aware that you're using it. This program is a must-have for anyone who needs to make their Turbov Evo readily available to multiple users or computers.
Ubuntu is an open-source Linux distribution operating system, and if that sounds like geek to you, it shouldn't. If you've only ever used Windows, the Turbov Evo of trying a new operating system might sound a little scary. But with Turbov Evo you can download and try Ubuntu easily, and with the knowledge that you can go back to Windows whenever you like.
